With the game-changing launch of my JAMAH Motorcar Collection bringing great excitement and attention to the brand, the growth has been met with spirited enthusiasm and numerous declarations of: "Incredible, Nancy... you're an overnight success!" I can’t hear that expression without thinking of Carter Reum and the many laughs we’ve had about this great myth. There is a very good reason it is said that overnight success takes about 10 years!
I launched JAMAH in 2000. After 23 years of grueling dedication, I have only one thing to say: "23 Years of Ramen… is a lot of Fcking Sodium!"
“It’s a salty path!” Gabe Erle retorted to this very line during my conversation on his and the equally hilarious Jamie Reid’s Discover the Difference podcast.
I think it's safe to say that we all love a happy ending – like a business that becomes a fast success – but it’s a far more exciting story when we ignore the 23 years of hard work that it took to get there.
From rape to murder to victory to the edge of failure and back, my ‘Years of Ramen’ have necessitated a great deal of perseverance, resilience and laughter.
My experiences have prompted many to suggest that I write a book. My sardonic comeback is always the same: “Really… seriously… you think people want to hear me talk about me?”
When I started thinking long and hard about the many tales I have to tell, I realized how powerful it would be if my experiences were to resonate with and inform my community – and just like that – the lightbulb went on…
Instead of writing a book, I will create a platform that will entice people to tell their own uninterrupted stories. It will be funny. It will be interesting. It will be provocative.
And that is the story of how 23 Years of Ramen: The Salty Journey of an Entrepreneur came to be.
Each week, I will share an experience that I’ve had over the past 23 years and invite you to share the crazy, challenging and humorous stories and epiphanies behind YOUR success.
The depth of conversation will be surprising and reflect my firm belief that our personal and professional lives are profoundly intertwined…
Join the journey… spread the word!
