With the top down, the sun shining and Father's Day fast approaching, we cruised PCH for the last leg of the 2023 Robb Report California Coastal Rally and memories of the car adventures I shared with my dad came flooding back.

When I was a young girl, many winter Sunday mornings, my dad and I would make a donut run.

We’d say goodbye to my mom, hop in the car and hit the road.  But what we called the “donut store” was actually an iced-over empty parking lot, where we’d spend the next half hour “doing donuts!”

I loved the shuddering feeling in my stomach as we slid over the ice. This was a difficult moment for our family–my mom was just starting to get better after years of hospital stays–but this special time with my dad reminded me how important it is to make time to have fun together.

We would always be sure to stop at the real donut shop on our way home so that my mom wouldn’t get suspicious!

In 2022, I had the chance to drive at the BMW Performance Center West at the Thermal Club, the world’s most exclusive racetrack. It had been a while since I’d been in the driver’s seat, as I gave up my car years ago and Uber everywhere, but the moment I felt the same shuddering in my stomach, I knew I was home. After I crushed their high-speed drifting competition, it was clear that the donut runs paid off.

There is nothing quite like the freedom and possibility of a full tank of gas and an open racetrack–or parking lot! My dad and I connected over cars when I needed connection most. And more recently, I have been lucky enough to immerse myself in a community of incredible people who share a love for luxury and speed.

For me–and for so many others–cars represent connection, and I am fortunate to have found a way to honor this connection with the JAMAH Motorcar Collection. I only wish I had launched it sooner, so that I could have gifted my dad a weekender bag with an inscription thanking him for all the donut runs.
